Douglas DC-2 'Civilian Service' In the mid-1930s the Douglas DC-2 opened a new chapter in modern-era air transport. Providing its passengers with a fast and comfortable vehicle, it caused an enormous increase in traffic over the routes not only in the USA, but also in Europe, and enabled easy connections as far afield as south-east Asia and Australia.
