Messerschmitt P.1101 Nightfighter The Messerschmitt P.1101 was commissioned by OKL in the summer of 1944 and was the first aircraft in the world to have variable wing geometry. It could only be built on the ground at a yaw angle of 35° to 45° 3 decal variants: 1. Messerschmitt P.1101, NJG1, Luftwaffe, 1946 /alternate marking/ 2. Messerschmitt P.1101, NJG3, Luftwaffe, 1946 /alternate marking/ 3. Messerschmitt P.1101, testing aircraft, Great Britain, 1946 /alternate marking/ The Heinkel HeS 011 engine was supposed to be used, but the prototype was fitted with a Jumo 004 engine. Before the prototype was completed in April 1945, the Americans occupied the Messerschmitt factory in Oberammergau and took the prototype to the US and became with a pattern for the Bell X-5 airplane, which could already change the angle of the wing even in flight.
